Article:
Entrepreneurs Need to Build a Sales Process

As an entrepreneur you need to build a sales process for your organization. Like every other part of your operation you have to have a process that works to bring in new leads and convert them into new clients. Having a structured sales method maximizes efficiency, but many entrepreneurs miss or ignore this step. A sales process gives you steps and structure reducing the number of lost sales and giving you the structure for future growth.

There can be many reasons for not putting together a solid sales process. Many business owners feel they are too small to have written operational plans and processes. Or consider it to be busy work, or they don’t feel they have the time. But the reality is that a sales process will save time in the long run and increase the number of clients that you have. The process gives your sales team a structure to follow and process that has been proven over time to work. It makes their job easier and more predictable in the long run. But, whatever your rationale is for not putting together a process now is the time to correct the error and increase sales.

The first step is to evaluate your customers. Think from the customer’s perspective, not from a place of “how do I make the sale” but instead: “what does the customer need to do, need to believe, need to want in order to buy?” By shifting your focus to the customer you shift your sales process too. Take a deeper look at your customer:

1. What questions does your customer need to answer in order to buy? What are the problems that they need to solve with your solution?
2. For each prospective customer or customer type you need to know what their buying process is. Who makes the decisions for the purchase and who needs to be involved in the buying process? Do you have the right people in the room?
3. Where is our client in their buying processes? Is your client a day or two away from signing a contract, or are they still “kicking the tires”?
4. What is the next reasonable step they must take? If you can figure out where they are and what it’s going to take to make them buy, then we can find the next logical step for them to take.
5. What can we do to get them to take that step? Once we know what our customer needs to do next, then we can figure out what we need to do next in our selling process.

Each step of your sales process should help your client through their buying process. Your process should be answering their questions, solving their problems and be in line with their buying process. Your actions should be designed to empower your client to move through their purchasing steps, otherwise you are spinning your wheels and wasting your energy in a process that will not result in a sale.

When you have meetings with company executives of your prospect you need to be clear about how that meeting fits into the sales process and know exactly what it is that you want your client to do as a result of this meeting. Do not go into any meeting without a plan. Don’t go in “winging it” and hoping that it will result in the right outcome. This is where your sales process and knowledge come into play. Know what you want the meeting to accomplish. What is your goal with the company executives?

• Accept your plan, and continue to the next step in the sales/buying process?
• Move to a second meeting with other team members to provide additional information and better understanding of the benefits to the client.
• Commit to or schedule a time to meet again with you for your recommendations for meeting their needs?

When you have a solid plan of action then you make wise use of your time and that of your prospect. You are not on a hopeful fishing expedition but rather serving your prospect with knowledge, valuable information and real solutions to their problems.

The reality is that the most work happens before the meeting not in the meeting. Spend your time in preparation for the sales meeting. While this may be a lot of work up front it pays off in the long run and saves you time and money. If you fail to know your customer’s buying process and where they are in that process, then you don’t know what actions to take during the meeting that will empower them to continue moving the process forward. Failure to do this results in overall failure and rather than making a successful sale you have unfortunately just had a nice visit.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Enjoy the weekend.

Donna

Entrepreneur’s Talk Radio

Tuesday April 13th; 1:00pm – 2:00pm  Tiffany Odutoye:  Entrepreneur’s Guide to Getting to the NEXT Step with Social Media

Author. Entrepreneur. Social Networker. Virtual Partner.

Tiffany Odutoye is the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer for Virtual Partner, LLC, a Virtual Assistance and Business Management Practice. She also recently launched a new brand, Talk Social Networking, LLC, to offer social media training and support.

With over 19 years experience, Odutoye’s career highlights include staff positions with SmithKline Beckman Pharmaceuticals (Glaxo SmithKline), CIGNA, Wharton School of Business, Arthur Andersen, The Nature Conservancy (NatureServe), and Limited Brands.

Consumed by a need to test out new web 2.0 technology, Odutoye became a social media specialist quite by chance. The rapid development and real-time results of social media soon had her blogging about it.  As ongoing business requests from clients emerged, Odutoye obtained her certification as a Social Media Specialist from VAClassroom and continued to learn from experts in the field. This self-sought training soon positioned her to strategize with businesses on their social media marketing plans.

The more she helped clients, the more Odutoye saw the need for group workshops. She envisioned the concept as a way of reaching larger numbers of people with the same questions. And the idea of a full-day, hands-on workshops was born.

She is the Assistant Organizer for the Columbus Social Media Networking (Tweetup) Group, now called the Columbus Collective; a TV talk show host and the Assistant Organizer for Social Media Television. Odutoye has emerged as an author in the #1 Up and Coming City in America, Columbus, OH and teaches workshops on social media, image and branding.

Article: Building Your List with Give Away Ventures

With the awareness of the importance of list building, comes a recent Internet Marketing trend which was started just a couple of years ago for the mutual benefits of all Internet Marketers and mailing list owners.

This method is more recognized as a “starting a Give Away venture”.

In a real sense, a Give Away event is much like a big time version of ad swaps. In a nutshell, a group of mailing list owners partner together and pool in their individual gifts in one limited-time event.

Each participating partner contributes a gift to the event. The gift can be a free product, membership pass or a product he is already selling (if he is kind enough to offer into the event).

The participating partner prepares a Lead Capture Page where he gives the gift in exchange for the subscriber’s email address. In other words, in order for a visitor to download the digital gift, he must opt in and subscribe to your mailing list.

When the gifts are pooled together into one event (site), every partner will then endorse the Give Away event to their own mailing lists.

The result: lots of visitors to one event as a collective effort of several participating partners!

With so many visitors downloading gifts from one focused event, it is a true win-win situation. This is because the visitors get to download several free gifts for their own use and every partner gets to build their own mailing list!

You can easily get notified about a Give Away event in the making by communicating with other Internet Marketers often or participating in Internet Marketing discussion and Joint Venture boards.

Small Business Success Institute

For the first time in quite a long time I opening up the Small Business Success Institute for membership.  People have been asking for this unique, one of a kind, total coaching opportunity for a while and here it is.  Today, you can join the Institute and receive a totally complimentary copy of the complete Bizology.Biz program.  But that is not all.  You also receive both group and individual coaching, tele-seminars/webinars, and an incredible mastermind group.  The whole program is incredible and is so packed full of features that it would take me a long, long email to tell you all of them…. so I highly recommend that you see for your self what is involved and how you can get your copy of Bizology.Biz shipped to you right away!

I do not think you will find another program as comprehensive and complete as the Small Business Success Institute.

Sometimes people ask:  “Why do I need a coach?; What will a coach do for me that I can’t do for myself?”  Well, the highly successful people that I observe each have a coach, and sometimes two or three.  They use their coaches to learn new strategies and techniques

What are your plans for the weekend? Make it a great one!

Article: New Age Marketing Strategies for Entrepreneurs

The explosion of technology has forever changed the way we market businesses and grow businesses. Marketing in using the Internet is an essential component of every marketing plan and if it isn’t then it needs to be added (asap). The Internet offers many tools that can assist in running a business as well as marketing a business. The result is extraordinary business development and growth. Entrepreneurs that fail to implement a web strategy are being left behind and are leaving “cash on the table”. Technology has made each business market more flexible, innovative and adaptable to competition.

As you develop your marketing plan you need to still take into consideration: your business relationships and partnerships. But you now have the ability to build alliances more quickly and easily. Many “old” marketing strategies still work and some are no longer effective. Entrepreneurs have to stay on top of growing resources and tolls for marketing their businesses and figuring out how they fit into their business model. Companies now need to approach their target market in new ways and they need to understand how to do that with their particular consumer. The Internet changes how clients or customers or consumers connect to businesses and how they see their messages. The customer typically starts with online search for the service or product that they need and then chooses, very quickly, which provider to connect with or look at. You have to be present in that search in order to even get in front of your potential clients/customers.

The Internet has forced each of us to shift how we market and has afforded us the ability to market in a more targeted way. Advertising or marketing campaigns online now take into consideration only the relevant prospects and are able to easily target them. In setting up your online marketing campaign and strategy you still need to reflect back on your basic marketing plan and focus on:
• Researching your target market
• Studying what the competition is doing
• Strong calls to action or incentives.
• A solid pricing structure for your services or products.
• A strong customer service strategy.

As you create your marketing plan and your strategies you can easily become overwhelmed as there are so many options. With the Internet there are many low cost or no cost options but they do take time to set up and manage, and there is a learning curve. When a strategy doesn’t work quickly, it can become discouraging and the energy and passion can wane. The reality is that it takes time, patience and persistence to get it right and get it working well, and a failure to pick the right strategies can result in overall business failure.

Creating your marketing plan is really one of the essential keys to building your business. Without an effective marketing plan it is hard to have a successful business. Working with a marketing strategist or coach can be a great way to ensure that you are on the right path and making good choices with both your marketing dollar and your marketing time.

P.S. The upcoming series we are offering on Internet Marketing for Everyday Entrepreneurs will be covering a great deal on what strategies are good for your business in this new age. See the details below. The workshops are offered both via webinar and via in person workshops here in New Jersey.

Article:  Getting Noticed on the Web

Getting Noticed on the Web is a key to a successful business and successful website.  You can hire people to optimize your website but there are many additional things you can do yourself to enhance your web presence and your web ranking.  So, before we begin, let’s get clear on some terms.  Throughout this report are many great ideas that use different strategies to get you noticed on the web and improve your business.  You will need an understanding of some terms for the report to make sense.

Auto-Responder
An auto-responder is a program that gives you the ability to automatically send emails to your prospects when they sign up on your site.  This is different from the auto-response you send out when you are out of the office.

E-Zine
An e-zine is a newsletter that is published on-line and sent to subscribers via email.  By law individuals have to request a subscription.

Opt-in
When an individual requests to be on your list, they fill out a form on your website with their name and email address.  If you have them confirm their request it is a double opt-in.

Why do you need a website and what should it do?
If you are a business owner you need a website.  Your site should do some work for you.  One of the reasons to have a website is to attract customers or clients.  But, if you don’t find out who is visiting your site and who is a potential customer you cannot market to them or give them additional information.  Your site should have a way of collecting data – name and email address, of your visitors.  Most sites that collect this information use what is called and “ethical bribe”, and exchange of information such as an e=book, free report or e-zine or combination for the person’s name and email address.  Your auto-responder company can assist with this.  When you set up a list you can then create the form code through your auto-responder for a sign-up form.  The information is collected by the auto-responder company and enables you to send emails, auto-responder messages, newsletters, and more.

By building a database of qualified prospects you have a pool of people you can market to.

Your website also builds your credibility as a company.  You can include testimonials from clients/customers.  Your site becomes an online brochure that is very detailed and complete.

Cold Calling:  Do I Have To?

You are ready to start your cold calls, your anxiety goes up, you can feel it throughout your body, and yet you have decided YOU ARE GOING TO DO IT!

Let’s define what exactly a cold call is.  A cold call is you, personally, calling or visiting a person that you do not know at all or you know only slightly. The primary purpose of the call is that you are selling something either personally or for your business.  Cold calls can be made to people that you know, prospects or people that you have met.

Your prior knowledge of the person only breaks the ice for a mere moment.  Nothing can be as uncomfortable as prospecting someone for your cold call.  Fear is at the root of anxiety.  Let’s look at the fear.  What are we really afraid of?  It is the fear of being rejected, being told no, being shouted at or feeling foolish. The reality is that most often people are polite and some of the fears are unrealistic. The power of your fears is that they stop you cold and you end up not doing the call.

You can choose to break through your fears and overcome them with a few positive steps. First is your attitude.  Being positive is a key essential, not to be negated or ignored.  Second is a solid plan.  Don’t just “wing it”, prepare for your calls and practice, practice, practice.

Let’s look at these keys a little bit deeper.

1.    Be Positive, No Matter What!

Cold Calling is a useful and powerful business building strategy.  Your person demeanor is a key to the strategy’s effectiveness. Feel positive about yourself and feel especially positive about the person that you are calling.  When you expect negative results, you end up communicating that to your prospect.  Your positive energy and enthusiasm are communicated immediately.  Check yourself before you make the call.  If you need to spend a few minutes preparing your mental attitude then take those minutes.  It is that important.

2.    Do Some Prep in Advance, Don’t Just Wing It.

Your personal preparation is essential.  It can make or break your success.  It is not effective to “know” the process or the “script”, you need to spend time preparing for each meeting. Start by creating your list of who you are calling.  Create your process:  how to start the call or visit; your introduction, include in your process a way for you to listen to the prospect.  Taking the time to prepare a process and script in advance is an important part of preparation.  Of course you don’t want to read from the script or be stuck in the script; but rather to use it as a guide.  And last but certainly, not least, be sure that what you are offering is of real value to the prospect.  By being clear on who you are calling will ensure that this is true.  A good cold calling plan can be the difference between success and new business, and total frustration.

3.    Be Yourself, be who you are, real and authentic.

Being who you are with real authenticity will help you to not sound nervous or contrived.  When you have a true belief in your product or service and communicate that authentically it will help you to make the sales.  You don’t want to be someone you are not. Set your goal at the beginning to begin with building a long term relationship of service.  With that as your goal instead of making the sale, you will have greater results.
4.    Breathe, Stay Calm, and Accept Whatever Happens

With cold calling, you have to expect that some of the time you will be turned down.  By knowing that up front you are more able to accept it and not take it personally.  It is not about you, but rather about the person that you are talking to.  By maintaining your professionalism and honesty you can still accomplish a goal of building a good rapport.  You can leave a lasting impression of professionalism and high quality service.  At the same time, each time you are turned down is an opportunity for you to learn from the experience.  There are a few good questions to use in your evaluation:  what went right or well; what didn’t go quite right; what would have made it right.  Make some notes to yourself and incorporate what you should into your process or script. By doing this you will find the strategy or approach that works.

5.    Master the Skill of Artful Questioning

For the most part, it is not often that people sign up right away with whatever you are offering.  As part of your script and process you need to include questions that can guide the process.  Questions can be the key to your success, or at least part of it.  Craft your questions during your preparation.  When designing your questions you want to be asking questions that get at emotion, and asking questions that the person cannot say “no” to. For instance a few questions that I might use as a business coach are:
•    Does your company want to increase its revenue over the next six months?
•    Would you benefit from learning how to do this more quickly?
•    What would the value be to your company?

Each question is leading to a coaching product or service, and most often people are going to answer in an expected way.

You can also ask questions that are focused on your service, gathering information from the prospect, such as:
•    What strategies are you using to get new leads each week?
•    Are you getting more leads than you need?
•    Would you be interested in seeing a system that we have put together for gathering highly targeted leads at a rate at least 3 times of what you described?

Questions can get a conversation moving and lower the person’s guard. Once you have gathered some information you are able to use that information throughout the conversation.

6.    Commit to Being Persistent in Your Strategy.

You have to commit to a strategy of cold calling.  Set a minimum of what you are going to do and reach that.  Reevaluate your strategy at least monthly but better yet, weekly.  Take the information that you learn and integrate it into your strategy.

By following these steps in developing your cold calling strategy you will have greater success overall.  Of course, you need to know your numbers as well.  How many calls have you made, connections made, resulting sales.  By using these approaches you will be able to create and refine a strategy that works for your business.

CRC Newsletter: The Friday Update: Snowed In and Loving It

Happy Friday!! We are having a snowy, sunny Friday!! We have about 14 inches of snow and it is still snowing off and on. It is beautiful. We will add some pictures to facebook later today.

It is our second snow day.

Just a short update for you this week!

In this issue:

–Business Tip of the Week: Lead Generation

–Special Webinar Event Next Week: Top Lead Generation Strategies

–New Workshop Series Being Offered!

Business Tip of the Week:

Many folks have been asking me about generating leads. What are the top lead generation strategies? I am collecting your answers on one of my blogs and I invite you to join the conversation there.

Need Clients? Remember These Top Strategies

Sometimes it seems like a mystery, how to get new business, but the reality is that most of us know just how to do it, we just forget that it is a simple process. Here are 10 reminder tips to get you thinking of simple lead generation strategies that are right in front of you!

1. Get New Business From Old. Ask existing clients for more biz before you try warming up a stone cold lead can be much more successful. Ask the happy clients for referrals to people they know that you don’t – and be sure to keep track of who referred whom.

2. Pitch a Stranger. It’s like bad advertising when you blow hot air when pitching to a new prospect. In face-to-face meetings you’ve got to know what to say, and say it with conviction.

3. Give It To Me Straight. No one has time for the “warm-up”. Prepare well honed phrases and practice them in front of a mirror. People like it when you can get to the point rapidly and intelligently. If it’s by email, make sure they don’t have to scroll down to read it all.

4. Talk About Your Failures. Seriously! It builds credibility. Everyone can’t be perfect all the time, and when you can tell a prospect why you lost a client and what you’ve learned it’s a welcome change. They appreciate not getting the usual hot air & razzle-dazzle.

5 Offer a “Loss-Leader”. People are less and less apt to buy impulsively from a person if they don’t have a good feeling about them. Offering a loss-leader allows the relationship to mature over time. This is very important in B2B clients. (Loss-leader is the practice of offering a product or service at a considerable discount and loss of profit to attract future business.)

6. Get Sold Yourself. Pick the most successful competitors in your area and let them sell you. Play customer and be aware of how you feel during each step, and see why their approach works so well. Auto-makers buy each others cars and break them down to nuts and bolts. You can do the same thing in your space.

7 Pitch an Enemy. Find the most disagreeable son of a gun you can find and pitch him or her. Let them be as nasty as they please, then analyze later if anything they said had any merit. Be totally unemotional, and don’t defend anything. You’ll learn where you’re lacking after doing this.

8 Start an E-mail Newsletter. This is much like #5. Give them useful information week in and week out, or month in and month out. Make them happy to see your name in the “from” field. If they only hear from you when you want something, they’ll turn you off when they hear from you.

9 Offer Testimonials. Satisfied clients or customers can say things about you that you can never say about yourself. Use the person’s full name if possible when doing this. “KM from Buffalo” isn’t nearly as strong as “Kenneth Moore from Buffalo”.

10 Ask Questions. I can’t emphasize enough how important and how underused this tip is in business. Simply allowing people to verbalize their needs makes them happy and tells them you listen. It also allows you to hone in on the points to make when it’s your turn to talk and the services that they need to improve your offerings.

It’s strange, but we become so busy doing business that we have a tendency to overlook what’s in front of our noses. Most of the tips listed, would come about if we ever had the time to visit with our customers while doing business.

Business Tip of the Week:
Many folks have been asking me about generating leads.  What are the top lead generation strategies?  I am collecting your answers on one of my blogs and I invite you to join the conversation there.

Entrepreneurs Must Generate a Constant Flow of New Leads to Succeed

There are many ways that entrepreneurs and small business owners can generate new leads for their business.  But it is vital, that it be a consistent and constant activity.   You need that type of flow of new leads coming to you. If you decide that you have enough business and stop your lead generating activities you run the risk of going out of business, should your current clients leave.

It is also vital to know where your leads did come from so that you can track which lead generating activities are working for you and which ones are not.  You want to maximize the effective strategies and tweak the ones that aren’t working as well or stop them altogether.

Evaluating your lead generation strategies should be a high priority.  Know your numbers, how many leads you generate and how or where from.

Entrepreneurs should have a web presence.  But is your website working for you.  Many are not.  Many websites sit on the Internet “looking pretty” but do very little for the business owner.  Your website should be a resource for new leads for you.

Step one in your website evaluation is to look at your web traffic.  This is a very important activity.  There are usually web traffic statistics available with your web hosting account.  If not, it is easy to set up Google Analytics on your site and it is a great resource for monitoring your traffic.

Here is what you want to look at in your web statistics:

•    number of visitors;
•    number of pages they visit;
•    what actions they take on your site:
•    subscribing to your newsletter,
•    taking surveys,
•    leaving feedback on your guestbook or forums

Content is one of the keys to traffic.  And this is exactly where many business owners make a mistake.  You need new, fresh content.  Your site should be updated regularly.  Your content needs to be valuable or informative, and should include your keywords.

Web Designers are often good at setting up your site so that it is well optimized.  But, you need a strategy for the regular updates of content.  When designing your site you must decide whether you want your web designer to be in charge of all of your content updates or whether you want to design a site that you are able to update yourself or your assistant can update.

However not all web designers are knowledgeable in Search Engine Optimization (SEO). As the entrepreneur, you need to know about SEO and know how to use different strategies for optimizing your site.  When hiring your web designer you need enough knowledge so that you can assess their SEO abilities.

Track where your leads come from.

When you have new leads coming into your business it is great.  Ask every single lead where they heard about you. If you are using online subscription forms add tracking tags to each form so that you know exactly where the lead is coming from. By doing this you will be able to identify which strategies are working and which ones aren’t.  When a strategy isn’t working, don’t just throw it away. Take the time to tweak it and see if there are changes that you can make to get it working for you. If after making strategic changes, it still doesn’t work, then it is time to get rid of that strategy.

Knowing where your leads come from is an essential component of good business.  You are able to evaluate your ROI or Return on Investment. When a strategy is not working then it is no longer cost effective to continue that strategy.

For instance, if you are paying top dollar to have an advertisement in a newspaper, and your tracking shows that you are receiving no new leads from that ad, then you must evaluate the effectiveness and the ROI.  It does not make sense to continue paying a premium for ad space that doesn’t work.  Many entrepreneurs will justify this cost as a branding exercise.  Branding is great, but again, if there is no ROI, then the ad should be discontinued.

Any strategy that you use can always be resurrected down the road as it might work at different times.

Here are a few strategies for generating new leads:

1.  Your current clients.  Your clients are one of your most valuable resources.  When you focus on client service and client satisfaction, new leads come your way.  You are able to ask your clients for new leads and referrals.

2.  Always work to meet the needs of your clients.  Good client care means delivering and then over delivering.

3. Appeal to your clients and prospects needs. What do they get from your product and service?  So often, business owners are focused on the attributes of the product or service and not on the benefits to the client.  You have to tell people what is in it for them.

4.  All advertising both online and offline should answer the “What’s in it for me?” question.  It reinforces that your focus is on them, their needs and wants, not yours.

Once the person becomes a client be sure that you WOW them with your service.  Over-Deliver.  Some people over promise and over deliver.  It is better to under promise and over deliver.  When you over deliver then you most then likely you can add referrals as a lead generation strategy that feeds your business.

Listen and ask questions.

Asking questions shows that you have an interest in the person; that you care.  It makes the person think and look at themselves. Your questions should be feeling oriented and not yes, no.  To make a sale of any kind it is based on emotion.

Do your lead generation research:
Research is critical part of an effective lead generation strategy. The research should tell you exactly where to find your ideal clients or target market and exactly what your target market is buying. There are a few easy ways to do this research, so don’t get bogged down by the word “research”:

1.  Look at the competition.  Your competitors are a wealth of information for you.
2.  Looking at your competitor’s blog, forums, or message boards can give you tremendous insights into what people are looking for. Remember, this is research.  You are not there to copy the site, the products or services. You want to stand out from the competition so you want your site to be unique to you, your services/products and not look like your competitors.
3. Join forums, blogs and groups where your target market is.  Listen to what they are talking about and figure out how your service meets their needs.

With all of the social media sites available today, there is probably a group that is all about your target market. That is where you want to be!

Use your content to pre-sell.  Valuable content provides good information to your audience.  It keeps them coming back.  And include a strong call to action.  Have a way to collect information on your website, name and email address at the minimum.

When you know your target market you are more easily able to build your business, generate new leads and convert those leads into clients or customers.

Lead generation needs to be a consistent activity within your business.  Do not get comfortable with the number of clients that you have and stop generating new leads.  It is a mistake that you do not want to make.  Do not think that one big client is enough for your business.  You need to be generating new leads constantly, tracking where those leads come from and refining your systems to maximize their effectiveness.  Lead generation does not just happen.  It is an intentional activity that has an intentional strategy and plan.

Join me next week for session one of our List Building Series.  This course is all about generating new leads for your business.

What a week!  Most of the week I spent in computer “XXXX”.  Excruciating. This has been one of THOSE weeks! I had a great plan going into the week of what I needed to get done and then the technology issues arose!! And for three days they kept growing and growing. One problem solved, a new one would emerge. The level of frustration was over the top — HIGH.

Today, for the first time since Monday, I am back online with MY computer and MY files and am able to finally get to the work I had planned for Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday. In the midst of it all there were of course — lessons learned!

List Building 101 Webinar:

Next week I am offering a small webinar on building your list.  As entrepreneurs, we each need to be consciously building a list of targeted prospects.  That really is what the list is all about.  And, even if you have a store front or a geographically based business there are ways for YOU to be building a list.

Many entrepreneurs make the mistake of building a website and hoping people visit it.  BUT, then when people do visit they have no way of collecting information from the person so that they can stay in touch with the prospect.  Most web visitors are not ready to become clients when they first visit our site.  BUT, they might become a client once they get to know us.

This complimentary webinar will give you some tools to consider in building a targeted opt-in list.

Business Building Tip of the Week:

Last week I shared with you our 5 Step Profit System.  AS you remember, lead generation is Step 1.  List building is a lead generation strategy.  Many entrepreneurs feel that it doesn’t “fit” their business, but I challenge you to look at HOW it does “fit” your business.

Entrepreneurs need to be building an opt-in list whether they are online or off line.  It is a marketing tool that is inexpensive and responsive.

Entrepreneurs Need to Build a List Too

No matter what your business is you should be building a list of contacts and prospects.  Entrepreneurs and small business owners need to be as diligent at this as Internet Marketers are.  What Internet Marketers have demonstrated time and again is that a list of prospects and contacts CAN build great business success.  A list in essence is a business’ “bread and butter”.  The list is what become your valued customers and clients.

Whether you are a “brick and mortar” business or an online business, you need to building a list.  Many, many offline businesses fail to effectively build a list online.  Most businesses can use an online list.  The idea of building a list is that you are “capturing” contact info for your website visitors.  These visitors are so important to your business.  But when they come and go without leaving you their contact info you have no way of following up, staying in touch or being “front of mind” when they change over to a “buyer” instead of window shopper.

List building is the first, most important and most constant of all the tasks that entrepreneurs should engage in. Maybe you don’t see it now but staying in touch with people consistently increasing your likelihood of converting a person into a client.   Many believe that their business just doesn’t exist without their list.

You might see people saying that list building just isn’t that important.  But the reality is that it is essential.  When you have a list of targeted prospects you have the ability to continue to build your relationship and rapport. Not collecting contact information for your customers and contacts is a dangerous business decision.  Even if you have a store front, you should be collecting valuable info from you customers.

Email gives us all the ability to easily stay in touch with people.  But it is vital that your email has true value.  People’s email boxes are full and you need to stand out.  By offering real value with each email you will.

Think about it, someone comes to your store, you collect their contact info, and you are able to let them know about special events, sales and online opportunities to do business with you.

The CAN SPAM act of 2003 made is illegal to send bulk marketing emails without the consent of the recipients. That is the law. The penalties for disobeying this law are tough! You can be fined up to $11,000 per unsolicited marketing email that you send!  You must be sure that you are collecting permission as well as email addresses.  Even in your store you can have people sign up on your email list.  Just keep the log of sign ups.  You can personally add them to your list and that is okay.

There are many good ways to build your list.  List building is an art, and at the same time the steps are easy to do.  You can build a targeted list in person and online.  Everyone on your list will be a valued subscriber, just on the verge of being a valued client.

If you are an entrepreneur you need to be building a list of contacts and prospects that you can continue to stay in touch with.  Whether you are online of offline a list can be the “bread and butter” of your business, and its ability to weather the ups and downs of the economy and business environment.

CRC Newsletter: The Friday Update

Dear Entrepreneur

Happy Friday!!

Just a couple of updates:
–Entrepreneur’s Talk Radio Shows available for you!
–List Building 101 Complimentary Webinar
–Business Tip of the Week
–Internet Marketing for Everyday Entrepreneurs being offered in NJ.

Entrepreneur’s Talk Radio
This week I had two great interviews with marketing experts on my radio show Entrepreneur’s Talk Radio.  Even if you can’t make the show you can always listen to it on my site:
http://www.compassroseconsulting.com/radio or on the Blog Talk Radio site.  Both Karl Bryan and Kim Clausen shared valuable information on marketing your business

To register for the webinar visit:

I have also created a series of articles on list building that are posted on my blog.

Business Building Tip of the Week:

Well, I wanted to share with you a bit about the Five Step Process that we use in the Entrepreneur’s Marketing Mentor.  It is really a shift in the way you think and the way that you work ON your business.

The five step process is simple:
1.  Lead Generation
2. Conversion Rates
3. Number of Transactions
4. Average Dollar Sale
5. Profit Margins

Each of these is a critical piece of running your business and making good business decisions.  By incorporating this five step process into everything that YOU do, you are able to constantly assess what is working and what is not working.  You can then decide if marketing campaigns are effective, if you are communicating your message.  It impacts your goals and milestones and each aspect of your business operations.

But of course, each of these five steps has action plans within it.  You must have effective strategies in each area.

The upcoming list building webinar will be addressing many strategies for lead generation.  Even if you have a solid business, you want to still be generating leads.

I have recently talked with several entrepreneurs that felt they had a good business, but then their one BIG client backed out of their services.  Suddenly, they felt that didn’t have a solid business.  It is great to have BIG clients, but while we have them it is vital that lead generation strategies are still being implemented.  It is a time, when you must invest some of your resources that the BIG client is giving you to build other parts of your business so that your business truly is solid.

There are many ways to generate new leads.  As a small business owner you have to choose which strategies you have the time to implement and then watch your numbers so that you can tell if you are using an effective strategy.  If you are not generating good leads, then, obviously, your business is not going to grow.

In the Entrepreneur’s Marketing Mentor we delve deeply into each of these five steps and how to implement them within your business.

Over the next few weeks I will continue to share some of my insights on each of these steps.

Today is a good day to look at your lead generation strategies.  What are you using?  What is working and what isn’t?  Do you have a method for tracking the systems that you do use?  Do you know your numbers?

Evaluate your success today.

It has incredible proven five-step process and advanced marketing program that doubled my profits in just 45 days.  I still thank my online mentor on a regular basis for showing me how easy it is to make more money with less work.

As small business owners, our most valuable asset is time.  While we enjoy our work and the businesses that we’ve created, we can’t let it run our lives.  Our families and the people we care about come first, and that’s how we need to organize our time.

Like you, I was once constantly disappointed by the performance of my business, despite the long hours I spent working myself into the ground.  I knew I needed to apply the entrepreneurial skills and vision I used to start my business to save it.

My ultimate goal was always financial freedom; I wanted to create a business that could run itself, without needing me working in it on a daily basis.  I wanted the kind of financial success that would give me the freedom to live the lifestyle my family and I had always dreamed about.  Now, thanks to my online mentor, I have it and I want to show you exactly how I did it.

I enjoy seeing other business owners find success in their endeavors, and so I started this website to share my success story and walk you through the five-step process.  I hope that by seeing how easy it was for me to turn my financial future around, you’ll be inspired to do the same.

Our advanced marketing strategies have helped dozens of small business owners change the way they approach marketing and start making real money, and it can make you rich too.

If you would like to find out more about the five-step process just visit our free website:

http://www.entrepreneursmarketingmentor.com/blog

We will be sending out a series of tips and suggestions to help you start building your business, plus links to some audio resources that you may be interested in.  If you’re not interested in receiving emails from us, just click on the link at the bottom and you’ll never hear from us again!

We understand how overwhelming small business ownership can be, so if you have any questions, please email us at info@EntrepreneursMarketingMentor.com

Cheers!

PS – If you think you’d benefit from some extra hand holding and one-on-one advice, you may be interested in our mentorship program.

This easy-to-use, step-by-step program walks you through the five-step process and explains in detail how you can execute the advanced marketing strategies we have used to build highly profitable businesses.  Of course, you’ll also gain access to all the tools, templates, checklists and guides that we use on a regular basis.  It’ll seem like we’ve done most of the legwork for you!

My mentor and I have worked to create an interactive online program that you can implement at your own pace, during times that are convenient for you.  We’ve done everything we can to make the program a great value – you can become a member for just $97 a month – and packed in all the tools, tips, hints and insider secrets you’ll need.

It’s the kind of program I wish I had discovered way back when I first started struggling with my business, because it would have saved me years of wasted money, time and frustration.

As a member, you’ll receive weekly e-classes directly into your inbox where you can read and work through them wherever and whenever you like, and as often as you like.  The e-classes are designed so you can fit them into your schedule where it is convenient, instead of having to work your schedule around fixed date seminars and workshops across the country.

You’ll feel like most of the legwork has been done for you and be able to enjoy the peace of mind that comes with having the support and guidance you need to be successful.
